President's Job Description


The Leadership Team (LT) is a compensated position that receives a comped membership during their service. In addition, the comp. dues are to cover minor out of pocket expenses such as postage and phone calls. Service on the LT is a minimum six month commitment ending on March 31st and September 30th of each year. These terms are renewable once in succession for this position, only if approved by the Director. Each member of the LT must have at least one or more months in remaining dues in order to accept the position.

In order to be on the LT, the President must read and sign the Leadership Team Agreement BEFORE taking over the position and having fees waived. Each member of the LT must attend Leadership training held in March and September of each year. Leadership training is REQUIRED. They MUST also return all materials at the end of their term to the BNI office. The LT should also meet together every month to evaluate the chapter.

The President is responsible for a number of activities including:

1. Running each meeting of that chapter according to the BNI Agenda and Policies.

2. Selecting two members (larger chapters need three) as the Visitor Hosts for six month commitments. Each week these members set up the visitor information table by the start of Open Networking, welcome and introduce visitors to members. Encourage the visitors to make a decision regarding joining during the meeting to lockout their competitor on the spot. Ask visitors to stay after the meeting for Visitor Orientation. Be sure the Visitor Hosts conduct the orientation. Call all qualified visitors two days after their visit to thank them for coming.

3. Select a member to be the Educational Coordinator for the next six months. This person is responsible for the Networking Education each veek or delegating it to another member of the chapter.

4. Making sure that the Vice President keeps accurate records and reports the AVERAGE number of monthly referrals and visitors brought each week.

5. Making sure that the Secretary/Treasurer keeps a current speakers list and that the members are informed as to the dates they are expected to talk and reminded that door prizes should be brought.

6. Making sure that the Secretary/Treasurer keeps accurate records relating to membership fees and (where applicable) meal payments.

7. Ensuring that the Secretary/Treasurer sends the monthly report, new member applications, and monthly fees to BNI office within 5 days after the first meeting of each month.

8. Contacting BNI immediately if there are any problems or questions that the chapter has.

9. Being responsible for listing the chapter's meeting date and time in a local newspaper's community calendar section regularly. 10. Conducting New Member Orientation.
